In the book of Ecclesiastes 3 there is a poem about life and the passage of time.  The main idea of this poem is that life is full of seasons.  Some good, some bad.  It’s a poignant reminder about life and the experiences found as a part of our journey.

But its not just a person’s life that has seasons.  Everything does.

Even the life of a church also has seasons.   The congregation that is the Airdrie Campus of Cornerstone Church has been through many seasons.  The church was planted in 1992 as Airdrie Foursquare Church.  The church met at the Bert Church Theatre, at Ralph McCall School, at what was Faith Community Baptist Church (now Daybreak Community Church), then settled into St Francis of Assisi Anglican Church.  The name of the church was changed to Waterbook Community Church.  Then in 2008 the church entered into a very unique season where we became a singular church in multiple locations, with the Garden Foursquare Church in Calgary, eventually becoming Cornerstone Church in the process.

Then after 25 years of not having a place to call it's own, God finally led the church to the building were it now meets.  And even in the buildings we have watched seasons come and go.  Just this past week we finalized the sale of our Calgary Campus building.  And we were able to officially pay off the mortgage of this building. All these different seasons. Each unique, each wonderful, each with God’s leading and presence in our church.

Of all of the seasons of life and of each of these seasons for our church Ecclesiastes 3 will say, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” And each of these times and seasons have been beautiful in their own way.

And now we are excited to announce to you the next season that we are going to undertake as a church.

A theme that comes from Ecclesiastes 3 is that as each season that begins, it also eventually comes to an end.  And in this moment I am here to let you know that our pastoral staff and our church council, with the full support and approval of our national church leadership and our national board have made the decision that the season for Cornerstone Church as one church with two campuses in two cities has come to an end.

What this means is that as of January 1st, 2021 we are no longer going to be one church in multiple locations.  We will be becoming each our own church under the current pastoral and council leadership of each campus.  Pastor Brad will be becoming the new senior pastor of this new church in Airdrie.  And Pastor Barry will become solely the Pastor of the church in Calgary.

You can watch Pastor Brad's annoucement of all the changes below.
