CAN MY CHILDREN BE BAPTIZED?
We are so excited that you are considering baptism for your child! Every child can have a personal relationship with Jesus, and at Hillside Church we encourage our kids to make a decision to follow Him. Our children and teens are encouraged not just to learn about Jesus, but to learn from Him by walking with Him every day.
Here is a guide to help you walk through this decision with your children.
Baptism is an outward celebration of an inward commitment. By going under the water and coming out it symbolizes: 1. The washing away of our sins; 2. The promise of a resurrected and eternal life after death.
Baptism does NOT save you. It is your faith in Jesus Christ, His forgiveness and resurrection that saves you. Baptism is the public celebration of your private commitment to following Jesus in all that you do.
Any adult, teenager or child who has committed to accepting forgiveness from Jesus Christ, believing in His resurrection, and committed their life to following Him is eligible for being baptized.
If you are under 18, or considering baptism for your child, we have resources available on this page to help with those discussions.
Sometimes people are baptized as infants or children before they are able to make the choice for themselves. Or sometimes we come to a place where we want to make a newfound commitment to Jesus Christ. In either case it is acceptable to be baptized again.
If you have any other questions regarding this, don't hesitate to contact the pastoral staff.
