Join Us in Praying for What’s Cooking? VBS

Next week, Hillside Church will be filled with children, leaders, laughter, songs, games, stories, snacks, and all the beautiful energy that comes with Vacation Bible School.

This year’s VBS theme is What’s Cooking? and together we will be helping kids discover more about spiritual gifts — how God has made each of us on purpose, how He gives good gifts, and how we can use what He has placed in us to serve others.

As we prepare for VBS, we want to invite our whole church family to be praying with us. There are so many details that go into a week like this, but more than anything, we want to ask God to be at work in the lives of the children, families, and volunteers who will be part of it.

Here are some simple prayer focuses for the days leading up to VBS:

Tuesday: The Children
Pray for every child who will come to VBS next week. Pray that they would feel welcomed, safe, and loved from the moment they arrive — and that their hearts would be open to hear how much God knows them, loves them, and has gifted them.

Wednesday: The Volunteers
Pray for our VBS volunteers. Pray for energy, joy, patience, and unity as they prepare to serve. Ask God to use every leader, helper, and behind-the-scenes volunteer to show the love of Jesus in simple and meaningful ways.

Thursday: The Families
Pray for the families connected to VBS. Pray that parents, guardians, and caregivers would experience kindness and welcome through our church family. Ask God to use VBS as a doorway for deeper connection, encouragement, and hope.

Friday: The Message
Pray for the message of VBS. As we talk about spiritual gifts through our What’s Cooking? theme, pray that each child would begin to understand that God has made them on purpose and invited them to use what He has given them to serve others.

Saturday: The Details
Pray for all the details. Pray for the setup, supplies, snacks, games, crafts, teaching moments, registration, schedules, and all the little pieces that help VBS run well. Ask God to bring peace, clarity, and joy into every part of the preparation.

Sunday: Our Church Family
Pray for Hillside Church as we get ready for VBS. Pray that our whole church family would carry a spirit of welcome, hospitality, and prayer. Ask God to help us love our community well and serve these children and families with open hearts.

Monday: The First Day
Pray for peace, excitement, safety, and joy as children arrive for the first day of What’s Cooking? VBS. Ask God to be present in every room, every conversation, every song, every activity, and every heart.
