Something special is simmering at Hillside this summer!
This year at VBS, kids will put on their aprons, step into the kitchen, and discover that growing in faith is a lot like cooking. It takes time, creativity, care, and learning what each ingredient brings to the table.
Over five fun-filled days, our young chefs will explore Old Testament stories, play games, sing, create, laugh, and discover spiritual habits that help them grow closer to God. Together, we’ll learn that God always makes time for us, God has given us gifts that make a difference, God makes us stronger together, and we can make God known when we share our story.
And of course, we’ll wrap up the week with a deliciously fun family celebration.
Our memory verse for the week is:
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” — Psalm 34:8
All week long, kids will be invited to “taste and see” God’s goodness as they discover more about who He is and how much He loves them.
Each day of VBS will serve up a new Bible story, a big idea, and a chance for kids to grow in faith together.
On Day 1, kids will discover how God met Jacob in a dream and promised to always be with him. Before anything else gets added to the recipe, kids will learn that God is present, attentive, and never too busy for them.
On Day 2, kids will explore how God used Moses’ mom, sister, and Pharaoh’s daughter to rescue Moses. Every person had a part to play, and kids will be reminded that God has given each of us gifts that can make a real difference.
On Day 3, kids will hear how Moses listened to his father-in-law’s advice and learned that he did not have to carry everything alone. Just like a good recipe often needs more than one ingredient, God gives us help through others.
On Day 4, kids will discover how Deborah celebrated God’s victory with a song that told everyone what God had done. Kids will learn that our stories can point others to God’s goodness, faithfulness, and power.
On Day 5, kids will wrap up the week with singing, a review of everything they have learned, and our very own VBS version of Nailed It! It will be fun, creative, and a great final day together.

Every day at VBS will be packed with faith, fun, and plenty of flavour. Kids will enjoy Bible teaching, worship, games, activities, crafts, snacks, and small group moments designed to help them connect what they are learning to everyday life.
Our goal is to create a space where kids feel welcomed, known, safe, and excited to discover more about Jesus.
We know that sending your kids to something new can come with questions. At Hillside, your child’s safety and experience matter deeply to us.
Our VBS team is made up of caring volunteers who want every child to have a meaningful and memorable week. Kids will be guided through each part of the day, with leaders helping them participate, make friends, and engage at their own pace.
Whether your child has been part of Hillside for years or this is your family’s first time joining us, we would love to welcome you.
