Mark 8:22-26

In this message from our Weird series, When Jesus Needs Two Tries, we explored one of the strangest healings in the Gospels. In Mark 8, Jesus heals a blind man—but instead of everything becoming clear at once, the man first sees people who “look like trees walking around.” Jesus touches him again, and only then does he see clearly.

This sermon reminded us that Jesus was never struggling to heal the man. Instead, this unusual miracle gives us a picture of how Jesus often works in us: sometimes transformation happens instantly, but often it unfolds gradually. We are invited to trust Jesus in the blurry middle—to keep walking with Him, keep allowing Him to work, and believe that incomplete does not mean abandoned.
